Human Resources

Without the continued patronage of one’s employees, a business will quickly cease to exist. Without a proper system in place to manage human resources within a company, employees will start to become less productive, unmotivated, and disloyal to the interests of the business.

An effective HR system should cover 5 core aspects;

Recruitment

The company should have a system that handles the recruitment & hiring processes. When a new job vacancy is identified, the HR team should create an appropriate job description related to the requirement, and choose the relevant channels to post for recruiting new candidates.

Once a potential candidate has been found, there should be processes in place to test & interview the potential candidate’s prowess to see if they are a good fit for the role & the company.

Candidate Onboarding, Training & Development

Once an ideal prospect has been identified, there should be an onboarding process that should aid the new employee in getting accustomed to the new working environment, with a clear role, expectations, and measurable objectives that they can work towards.

There should also be training programs in place to help candidates where relevant, for them to learn and develop their skills to add more value to the organization.

Employee-Employer Relations

There has to be a clear hierarchical system in place that defines who an employee can rely on & depend on for guidance, while also giving them a potential pathway to strive for. This is a key component that is necessary for the success and growth of the employee within the organization.

Employee Evaluation, Benefits & Succession Plans

Every employee must have clearly defined goals that they are expected to work towards. Periodically, an employee’s performance should be monitored, and if their performance is beyond expectations, then there should be a system in place to reward them.

If an employee is seen to be lacking in their performance, then a system should exist where their shortcomings can be addressed and guidance is given to help improve the employee’s performance over time.

When an employee has exceeded expectations and shows potential to take over more responsibilities, there should be succession plans in place to facilitate it.

Oversee & Enforce Disciplinary Measures

In cases where employee concerns are identified, you need to have a system in place that allows for constructive resolution of these concerns, and where necessary implement disciplinary procedures where relevant.

This should be approached in a legally ethical manner.
